Unemployed Nurse

Five years ago, I told my mom that the moment I become a nurse, there will be no job available for me as a nurse. She didn't listened and still insisted for me to take the course. I have no choice but to follow.

Five years after, here I am, still not practicing my profession. The profession I worked hard to gain a license.

I may not be a persistent job haunter like what others are. The 1st time I applied for a job, I went to 2 hospitals and 1 nursing agency (which I was hired as an admin assistant). I stayed at the said company for 4 months and became a private duty nurse on the same company. But things were difficult when I became a private nurse. No regular patient, duty on the patient's house, work simply as their watcher.

My mom's now pushing me to work on hospitals. But sad to say, almost all hospitals are on "freeze hiring". I think they more focus on "trainings" on which the applicant/trainee have to pay Php 6000 good for 3 months. Then they will tell you you will be called but then after several months, no calls.

I wonder what will happen to nurses for the next years. There's still an overproduction of nurses here in our country. Sometimes, perseverance is not enough. You must know someone from the institution for you to get the hired.

But nothing's impossible with prayer, right? I guess I just need to continue praying and still find a way to hired in a hospital.
